Managing Cards

Cards are the core work items in Fizzy. This guide covers the full card lifecycle.

Card Lifecycle

Created → Triaged → In Progress → Closed
             ↓
        Postponed ("Not Now")

Creating Cards

Basic card creation:

fizzy_create_card({
  board_id: "board_eng",
  title: "Implement OAuth login"
})

With full details using Markdown:

fizzy_create_card({
  board_id: "board_eng",
  title: "Fix mobile navigation bug",
  description: "**Issue:** Menu doesn't close on tap outside\n\n- Affects iOS Safari\n- Reported by 3 users",
  tag_ids: ["tag_bug", "tag_mobile"]
})

Tip

Card descriptions support Markdown formatting. Use bold, lists, links, code blocks, and more. The Markdown is automatically converted to HTML before being sent to Fizzy.

Triaging Cards

Move a card into a workflow column:

fizzy_triage_card({
  card_number: 42,
  column_id: "col_in_progress"
})

Send back to triage (remove from column):

fizzy_untriage_card({
  card_number: 42
})

Completing Work

Close a card when done:

fizzy_close_card({
  card_number: 42
})

Reopen if needed:

fizzy_reopen_card({
  card_number: 42
})

Postponing Cards

Move cards to “Not Now” for later:

fizzy_postpone_card({
  card_number: 42
})

Tip

Use postpone for cards that are valid but not a priority right now. They won’t clutter your active views.

Working with Tags

Toggle a tag on/off:

fizzy_tag_card({
  card_number: 42,
  tag_title: "urgent"
})

Note

If the tag doesn’t exist, it will be created automatically.

Assignments

Assign a user to a card:

fizzy_assign_card({
  card_number: 42,
  assignee_id: "user_sarah"
})

Calling again removes the assignment (toggle behavior).

Golden Cards

Mark important cards:

fizzy_mark_golden({
  card_number: 42
})

Find all golden cards:

fizzy_list_cards({
  indexed_by: "golden"
})

Watching and Pinning

Watch for notifications

fizzy_watch_card({ card_number: 42 })
fizzy_unwatch_card({ card_number: 42 })

Pin for quick access

fizzy_pin_card({ card_number: 42 })
fizzy_unpin_card({ card_number: 42 })

Searching Cards

Find cards by various criteria:

// By board
fizzy_list_cards({ board_ids: ["board_eng"] })

// By assignee
fizzy_list_cards({ assignee_ids: ["user_me"] })

// By state
fizzy_list_cards({ indexed_by: "stalled" })

// By search terms
fizzy_list_cards({ terms: ["login", "oauth"] })

// Combined
fizzy_list_cards({
  board_ids: ["board_eng"],
  tag_ids: ["tag_urgent"],
  sorted_by: "newest"
})

Updating Cards

Modify card content:

fizzy_update_card({
  card_number: 42,
  title: "Updated title",
  description: "## Progress\n\n- [x] Step 1 complete\n- [ ] Step 2 in progress",
  tag_ids: ["tag_new"]
})

Caution

Setting tag_ids replaces all existing tags. Include all desired tags.

Deleting Cards

Danger

Deletion is permanent!

fizzy_delete_card({
  card_number: 42
})

Only the card creator or board admins can delete cards.

Daily Standup Check

// What's in progress?

Sprint Planning

1. List all cards on a board

   fizzy_list_cards({ board_ids: ["board_sprint"] })

2. Mark priorities as golden

   fizzy_mark_golden({ card_number: 42 })

3. Assign to team members

   fizzy_assign_card({ card_number: 42, assignee_id: "user_dev1" })

4. Move to sprint column

   fizzy_triage_card({ card_number: 42, column_id: "col_sprint" })

Weekly Cleanup

// Find stalled cards
fizzy_list_cards({ indexed_by: "stalled" })

// Postpone non-urgent ones
fizzy_postpone_card({ card_number: 123 })

// Close completed work
fizzy_close_card({ card_number: 456 })
